Villemont supports exceptional initiatives contributing to the protection of the environment.

Make Your Own Story
Roald Amundsen’s heritage and legacy continue to inspire us to be bold and innovative. Likewise, at Villemont we wish to encourage people to make their own story. This is why, through our sponsorship, we support passionate men with a vision to live out their dream. “Lewis is the modern day explorer and perfectly incarnates the pioneering spirit of my great great uncle Roald Amundsen” stated Jørgen Amundsen, Creative Director at Villemont.
Lewis Gordon Pugh and the Polar Defense Project
On July 15th, 2007 Lewis Gordon Pugh became the first person to complete a long distance swim at the Geographic North Pole. The swim, in water ranging in temperature between minus 1.7ºC and 0ºC (29F and 32F) took 18 minutes and 50 seconds to complete. Villemont was the Official Timekeeper.

Lewis Pugh & Jørgen Amundsen, August 28th 2008
Today, Lewis Gordon Pugh is back in the Arctic for another pioneering expedition. Lewis will attempt to become the first person to kayak to the North Pole and will show the drastic loss of ice over the past few years and demand that world leaders take urgent action on climate change as well as call for new laws to protect the environment and peace of the Arctic. Like for the 2007 expedition, Jørgen Amundsen, Creative Director of VILLEMONT and great great nephew of Roald Amundsen, has accompanied Lewis to Spitsbergen, where the expedition begins.
Lewis will be wearing the ARCTIC NAVIGATION SYSTEM timepiece during his expedition to test it in the harshest conditions. Its steel and black coated titanium case houses a self-winding chronograph. Its rotating bezel allows its owner to find the cardinal points (indicated on the inner bezel) at any time. In daylight by simply positioning the hour on the 24h scale of the bezel towards the hour hand, the wearer will immediately know where the sun sits at that precise time. For example, at 5 am, the sun sits in the North-East.

At night, a drawing of the stars on the back of the watch will help Lewis to find his North. The red of the strap is
both a symbol of empowerment meaning that we all have the power to make things change, and the red alert
sign, indicating that if we don’t act now for the environment, the consequences will be irreversible.
