Swiss luxury watchmaker Piaget is virtually inseparable from the lives of celebrities and stars. From Piaget's 1980s-era conquest of such wrists as Ursula Andress, to the recent association between Piaget and pop performer Rihanna, the exquisite timepieces of the prestigious brand seem to have a magnetic attraction to those in the limelight. The latest example of this phenomenon took place at the recent MTV Video Music Awards, where Sean "P Diddy" Combs and R&B artist Ne-Yo (a.k.a. Shaffer Chimere Smith) both chose elegant Piaget watches to carry off their dress ensembles.

For Sean Combs, a man known for his extravagant tastes in just about everything, a Piaget Rectangle à l'Ancienne watch from the Black Tie collection--completely covered with exquisite pave diamond setting--was a natural companion. Not merely a showpiece for artfully accomplished "bling", this rectangular white gold timepiece houses a Piaget manufacture self-winding movement. The sophisticated technical features of this refined mechanical caliber include a power reserve indicator and a mesmerizing retrograde seconds display.
Ne-Yo opted for the finest in understated Piaget classical elegance. His watch was the brand's sublime Altiplano Skeleton, a ravishing ultra-thin dress watch in 18-karat white gold with a hand-sewn alligator leather strap. The dial of this Piaget Altiplano watch is openworked at the center to reveal the exceptional workmanship of the refined Piaget 838P caliber, one of the thinnest mechanical movements in current production. The grace of this model provided a classical touch to the dapper yet tastefully edgy attire that Ne-Yo chose for the MTV Video Music Awards.
