Swiss watch manufacture Vacheron Constantin is justifiably proud of its association with the humanities. From its partnership with such artists as conductor Imma Shara to world-famous museums whose tribal art has inspired an exceptional collection of "Les Masques" timepieces, Vacheron Constantin shows time and time again where its priorities are. The prestigious Geneva house founded by Jean-Marc Vacheron and Francois Constantin more than 250 years ago can without question be numbered among the foremost guardians of culture in the haute horlogerie field.

Vacheron Constantin CEO Juan Carlos Torres and Dr. Dominique Eckert,
a post-doctoral researcher in the institution's Faculty of Science.
The brand is equally dedicated to furthering progress in science. Since 1948, it has annually recognized top achievers from the University of Geneva in astronomy, mathematics, and other categories. For 2009, Vacheron Constantin has chosen Dr. Dominique Eckert, a post-doctoral researcher in the institution's Faculty of Science. Dr. Eckert's formidable treatise "The Integral View of Galaxy Clusters" was sufficient to capture the prize from among a group of well-qualified potential candidates at the university.
As part of the recognition for his work, Dominique Eckert was given a Vacheron Constantin Overseas timepiece in stainless steel. One of the world's finest high luxury sports watches, the Overseas features a distinctively elegant case and bracelet, a hand-finished automatic mechanical movement, and and inner case shield of iron which protects the mechanism from magnetism. The watch was presented to Dr. Eckert by Vacheron Constantin CEO Juan Carlos Torres, a tireless promoter of the brand's core values in prestigious venues around the world.
